Heather Lea met Dave Sears online. Within one month of dating they decided to sell almost everything they owned to travel around the world together on motorcycles. The choice itself was risky, but the real struggles would come from within. When they left, Heather could hardly ride and was an independent spirit. Dave was more or less a stranger to her and had an ambitious agenda.
What followed was a journey that often pushed them both to the edge. From crashes and broken bones to roadside arguments and spoiled dreams, it seemed at times that every mile had its challenges. Yet even on the worst days, random acts from those they understood even less than each other, brought compassion and light.
Riding Full Circle is Heather’s true and humorous story of love and risk on the move: what it means to build trust with another person while finding strength within yourself, and how the road—unforgiving and beautiful—teaches lessons no traveler can predict.

About Heather
Heather Lea has been writing about travel and adventure for over 30 years, ever since her first story about rock climbing was published in a Canadian newspaper. In her 20s and 30s, Heather spent months at a time traveling around the world before finally “settling down” to buy a house in Revelstoke, B.C., Canada.
In 2005, Heather founded an arts and culture magazine in Revelstoke, called Reved Quarterly. Along with assigning hundreds of stories, managing a staff of eight, and acting as liaison between printers, advertisers, and distributors, she was also the design and layout artist for the full-color publication.
Ten years later, Heather was asked by someone she met on the internet if she wanted to ride motorcycles around the world with him. Knowing this was the opportunity of a lifetime, she sold Reved (now defunct) to a staff writer and hit the road.
From 2015 to 2017, Heather and Dave rode their BMW motorcycles through forty countries, covering over 58,000 miles. (As a Canadian, originally from Calgary, Alberta, Heather would like to point out that the distance sounds more impressive in kilometers: 93,000.)
Today, Heather has made her home in Bellingham, WA. She continues to freelance as a writer and has been published in various print and digital magazines.
